We would love you to join us regularly on a Sunday for our morning or evening service. We appreciate, however, that there are some people who would not choose to be with us regularly, but who do feel a connection to the church community and building.
We like to keep “friends of St Stephen’s” up to date with events that we think might be of particular interest (eg a carol service or summer fair) and also with developments and plans involving the fabric of the building itself.
Many local residents feel a strong attachment to our beautiful grade two listed building. We use the income we generate from renting our hall to help the congregation to pay for the regular upkeep of the building. We often, however, have particular projects with the building that need extra funds. Current projects include:
Fixing the stonework and flashing on the roof to make it watertight
Redeveloping the South Chapel to make it into a space that can be used by the community and allow regular access direct from the street into the church, even when the hall is in use
Restoring the fresco in the North chapel
Securing cracks to the outer parts of the building
Installing an automated system to stop the clock chiming at night
Improving the insulation to reduce our carbon footprint
If you enjoy living near our beautiful church and would like to contribute to the upkeep of the building please link through to our giving page. If you mark your gift as “Friends of St Stephen’s”, your funds will be ring-fenced for the upkeep of the building.
If you join our “Friends of St Stephen’s” mailing list, we will email you no more than 4-6 times a year with details of current projects and upcoming events you might be interested in.
